Take a look at Studley castle plan

Redditch Editorial 5th Jun, 2015 Updated: 18th Oct, 2016   0

RESIDENTS are invited to a public exhibition at Studley Village this afternoon, Friday (June 5) to review Warner Leisure Hotels’ proposals for Studley Castle.

Warner, which specialises in adult-only short breaks, is working with Studley Castle owners, The Firoka Group, on developing plans to convert the castle into the chain’s 14th hotel.

The refurbishment at the site, off Castle Road, would create around 180 jobs and see over £30m invested in a restoration of the existing castle, stable and its grounds.

New bedrooms, entertainment lounges and leisure facilites are also included in plans and a swimming pool and spa will be open to the general public as part of a Warner Leisure Club membership.

Simon Thompson, managing director of Warner Leisure Hotels said: “We are extremely happy to have found Studley Castle after many years of searching for our ideal 14th property.

“We are still in the early stages of this process but are excited at the possibilities.”

Residents are invited to view the details between 3pm and 8pm prior to proposals being submitted for planning permission in July.

A decision will be announced in the Autumn and if successful, building work should commence in early 2016 with the completed hotel opening in 2017.

The castle has previously been used by British Leyland and its successors before being sold off.
