Taking the advanced motorist’s wheel in Redditch

Redditch Editorial 26th Aug, 2016 Updated: 18th Oct, 2016   0

SINCE passing my driving test earlier this year and getting my own car, I have been considering doing an advanced motoring course – to both enhance my driving skills, make me a more all-round motorist – and hopefully reduce my insurance premiums.

However, I didn’t have a clue on how to go about it, where to do a course or who to get in touch with.

So when I was contacted by the Redditch and Bromsgrove Advanced Motorists who offered me just that, I jumped at the chance.

Before I went out with my instructor David Smith, I did not really know what to expect or what he would think of my driving (even driving in front of friends, family or loved ones for the first time can be a bit daunting and nerve-wracking, let alone a complete stranger).

But from the off, David put me at my ease and explained how the course would work before I set myself up in my motor to take our first drive out together.

I was not shocked to hear there were things he picked up straight away but by then end of the first session I was already driving better. I had even learned a few ways to save petrol and who doesn’t want a few extra pounds in their pocket?

I will be carrying on with the course over the next few weeks before braving the examiner who will hopefully deem me an advanced motorist.

To be continued……
