Taking over the top school positions

PUPILS stepped into the shoes of teachers, caretakers and receptionists as part of Takeover Day.

Students from Walkwood Church of England Middle School took part in the annual event where they take on the roles and responsibilities of staff in the school.

A total of 50 jobs from the principal to business managers were up for grabs and pupils had to apply for the role by writing a formal letter.

A total of 278 applications were received and these were then shortlisted and interviewed, with many creating CVs and folders of achievements.

On the day itself, those who were successful dressed for their job and also took part in a staff briefing.

Tracey Tomes, head of PSHE and Takeover Day co-ordinator said: “I was truly amazed by the response it received and the way all students rose to the challenge, with an even higher standard than last year.

“It has yet again been an exciting and enjoyable venture from start to finish and I hope that we can look forward to more success with this event in coming years.”
