Taking steps to give Rory a boost

ALL the family are invited to don their trainers for a fun run and walk to raise funds for men with prostate cancer.

The event organised by Redditch Lions Club will take place at Arrow Valley Park next Sunday (September 14) from 9am until 1pm.

Residents can chose from either a 2.5K or 5k distance which can be run, walked or strolled.

Children, dogs and babies are also welcome to take part to boost funds for Prostate Cancer UK and the Rory the Robot Campaign which needs £1.6million to fund a piece of surgical equipment at the Alexandra Hospital for those with the disease.

Rory has a magnified 3D High Definition vision system and special instruments that bend and rotate far more then the human wrist.

It enables doctors to operate with enhanced vision, dexterity and control and the instrument will draw patients from all over Worcestershire and beyond, making the Alex a centre of excellence for prostate care.

Adult entry costs £5, while under 16s cost £3.

To enter and donate e-mail [email protected] or post your name, address, e-mail address and the donation to Redditch Lions Club Treasurer, 1 Moorcroft Close, Callow Hill, Redditch, B97 5WB, or call Phil on 07517 78092.
