Tips that save lives

Redditch Editorial 18th Sep, 2014 Updated: 18th Oct, 2016   0

REDDITCH shoppers picked up something invaluable on Wednesday (September 17) – life saving techniques.

Volunteers from St John Ambulance were in the Kingfisher Shopping Centre to teach people first aid as part of its Save a Life September drive.

Demonstrations of five easy to follow techniques were shown to shoppers while information on where to go for free tips and advice was also given out.

Nick Pitt, acting community training co-ordinator for St John Ambulance in the West Midlands, said: “Learning first aid is one of the single most important things you can do in your life and it’s so easy to learn. In the time it takes to do your weekly shop you could learn how to stop a friend choking or keep a loved one alive until an ambulance arrives.”

As part of the campaign people are also invited to dress up as their favourite superhero to fund-raise for the September Superhero Stroll.
