Trains to be stationed in Kingfisher

Redditch Editorial 22nd Aug, 2015 Updated: 18th Oct, 2016   0

IT IS full steam ahead for Kingfisher Shopping Centre this weekend when Redditch Model Railway Club will be unveiling their free pop-up model railway show.

Layouts will be set up for show in an empty shop unit in Walford Walk and there will an opportunity to see them operating and with one of the layouts visitors can even have a go themselves.

Guy Craddock, club secretary, said: “This event is a great opportunity for the visitors and shoppers to see our layouts operating first hand in an unusual setting.

The event is only possible through the generosity of the Kingfisher Shopping Centre in making the unit available.”

The event runs from 9am to 5pm tomorrow (Saturday) and from 10.30am to 4.30pm on Sunday (August 23).

Redditch Model Railway Club was formed in 1967 and the club staged its first show nearly 50 years ago in the old Kingfisher Hall, from which the shopping centre takes its name.

Later this year visitors will have the opportunity to see even more layouts and displays at the annual Redditch Model Railway Exhibition over the weekend of September 20 and 21 at Trinity High School.
