Travelling 600 miles without leaving gym

A DISABLED woman on a mission to travel the length of Britain has completed almost 600 miles without leaving the borough.

Gillian Dipple is aiming to raise at least £2,000 for Birmingham Children’s Hospital by running, cycling and rowing the 874miles between Lands End and John O’Groats.

But instead of taking to the nation’s roads she is doing it from a treadmill, rowing machine and bike at Energym off Battens Drive where she is a member.

In 48 days Gillian has travelled the equivalent of 577.46 miles, burnt 42,969 calories and been moving for 103 hours and 51 minutes.

The Studley resident, who has problems with her right leg meaning she has to wear a brace to help her walk straight, was inspired to take on the daunting challenge after hearing of the story of Andrew Mogg who underwent major heart surgery at the hospital before his first birthday.
