THE ANNUAL festive fund-raising campaign run by the Primrose Hospice has already seen £22,000 collected for the charity, putting it just £2,000 off last year’s total.

The Tree of Lights campaign enables residents to have the name of a loved one no longer put in one of the remembrance books placed around the Christmas tree in the Kingfisher Shopping Centre, at the town’s crematorium and at Thomas Brothers Funeral Directors, in return for a donation.

Special blessings have been held at each of the Thomas Brothers’ offices in Redditch, Alvechurch and Wythall.

At the Wythall one, there was also a carol service where people could also light a candle in their loved one’s memory.

Simon Thomas said: “We are very proud to be supporting the Primrose’s Tree of Lights.

“The blessing was a very moving ceremony and it’s great residents across Redditch and Bromsgrove district will be able to remember their loved ones through the campaign.”

Sandra Albright, the charity’s fund-raising assistant, said: “We are very grateful for the Thomas Brothers’ support of the Tree of Lights which is the most poignant fund-raiser of the year.”

Envelopes for donations are available at the Primrose Hospice shop in Alcester Street or call 01527 889796 for more information.
