BOGUS tree surgeons are targeting residents in Redditch.
The scammers are knocking on doors offering to cut down trees claiming they’re doing so on behalf of Redditch Borough Council.
They then ask the residents to pay them for the work but tell them to claim it back through the council once the job is completed.
But the workers have nothing to do with the council and the money is not reimbursed.
A council spokeswoman said official council tree surgeons carry identification badges and would have a ticket with details about the work.
She added workers would never just turn up on residents’ doorsteps.
Anyone who thinks they could have been targeted by the scammers should call police on 101 while anyone with doubts about workers should council to verify on 01527 881188.
