Trick or Treat workshop proves a hit with Mayor and Redditch youngsters

THE Greenlands/Lodge Park Safer Neighbourhood Team got together recently to run some community events to discourage unwanted ‘Trick or Treating’ and promote genuine hallowe’en activities.

Officers ran a pumpkin carving workshop in Woodrow Centre and had an excellent attendance carving more than 60 pumpkins last Friday (October 30) and also hosted a Hallowe’en disco at Lodge Park social club – who kindly donated room hire for free.

The guests enjoyed free face painting, dancing and party games, all with the Hallowe’en theme.

With well over 100 guests borough Mayor Pattie Hill struggled to choose the best costumes, but in the end six winners were chosen and there were plenty of runners up prizes too.

“I am pleased to see such a good turnout and am amazed by the effort that has gone into the costumes,” said the Mayor.

“The costumes were delightful and I was impressed with the support, empathy and caring between residents and the Greenlands PCSO team. So much better than worrying about children trick and treating! Our community at its best!”
