SETTING up her own business selling vintage clothing has earned a Redditch woman a mention in the House of Commons.
Emma Sutor, who owns Lady Muck Vintage in the Kingfisher Centre, was highlighted by MP Karen Lumley as an example of a successful businesswoman.
Before setting up the first vintage shop in the town, Miss Sutor previously ran her own cleaning business for more than a decade at the same time as bringing up her children.
Mrs Lumley was speaking during a question and answer session and asked Nicky Morgan, the minister responsible for women and equalities, about what was being done to encourage women to set up their own companies, giving Miss Sutor as an example.
Mrs Morgan said: “I would like to join her [Mrs Lumley] in congratulating her constituent Emma Sutor on the success of her company and the many women following suit to set up their own businesses.
“As well as running companies women like Emma have an important part to play as inspirational role models for tomorrow’s entrepreneurs.”
She added she would encourage other women to consider accessing Government schemes to help them set up their own business.
Miss Sutor said it was the ‘proudest moment’ of her life.
“I feel very honoured to be announced in the Houses of Parliament. I believed I have worked my hardest and would like to thank Karen Lumley for recognising my hard work.
“I will continue to work hard with my feet firmly on the ground.”
