SUPPORT and encouragement is on offer to breastfeeding mothers and mums-to-be.
A new group called Redditch Breastfeeding Mummies has been launched by the National Childbirth Trust and Redditch Early Help.
On Friday morning from 10am until 11.30am, during school term times, mothers can bring their babies while they talk to support volunteers about the highs and lows of breastfeeding.
The group also welcomes mums-to-be looking for information and advice about the early days.
Ali Wakeman, early help volunteering co-ordinator said: “Breastfeeding is both a rewarding experience for new mums as well as new babies. The time spent breastfeeding is rewarding on many levels, strengthening bonds and providing a healthy start to both mother and baby alike.
“This group provides a relaxed place to go and is a great way to socialise and make new friends.”
Emilie Deering, NCT breastfeeding counsellor said: “Mums are often taken aback by how exhausting and confusing the early days of breastfeeding can be.
“A friendly listening ear can make such a difference and we’re so grateful to our volunteers for giving up some of their time each week.”
