When no means no - Redditch police issue rape advice to students

REDDITCH students are being targeted in a new police campaign Stop Rape Now as thousands of youngsters head off to college and university.

The drive aims to encourage freshers to have open conversations about rape and sexual offences whilst informing students about the issue of consent.

Detective Chief Inspector Peter Davies said: “The prospect of heading off to college and university is an exciting time for many young adults and we are keen to ensure their time there is fun and fulfilling.”

However he said consent must be acquired every time before sexual activity occurs and can be withdrawn at any time.

He said: “This means that if someone initially gives you their consent they can change their mind at any point and any activity which occurs after this is a crime.”
