OFFICERS are still trying to crack the case of why a chicken crossed the road in Southcrest.
Police were called to Greenfields on Thursday (May 1) after reports of a hen wondering in the road and looking confused.
An officer attended the scene due to the danger posed to motorists and managed to catch the hen before putting it in a secure garden.
Officers issued some tongue in cheek tweets following the incident.
“One detained following foot chase. Released with strict bail conditions to minimise the flight risk.
“The suspect made no comment in interview. Officers are trying to establish a motive for crossing the road.”
It is still not known how the chicken came to be there.
A spokesman for West Mercia Police said: “If the hen does it again she will be going before the beak.”
