WINYATES could be the pivotal ward in tonight’s local elections in Redditch with Ukip being touted as possible victors there.
Labour group leader Councillor Bill Hartnett described it as the ‘weather vane’ seat while Conservative MP for Redditch Karen Lumley said she felt it could go to Ukip.
The seat is held by Labour’s Yvonne Smith while the Ukip candidate is Kathy Haslam, who stood for the Conservatives at last year’s council elections.
The sole Ukip councillor on Redditch borough council is Coun Paul Swansborough who also represents Winyates.
