MORE than 2,000 visitors flocked to Feckenham over the weekend to view 53 scarecrow exhibits.

The tenth annual Scarecrow Weekend in the village ran from Saturday to Sunday (October 18 to 19) with Witchcrow by Alan Smith being voted the best by the public.

The second prize was won by Emma Brownilow and Judy Underwood for their Feckenham Frozen Frolics piece while Game of Crows by Judith Hooker came third.

Bee Crow, created by Ethan and William from Class R at Feckenham First School, was voted the best by an entrant under the age of 12.

A spokesman said: “The standard was universally high and the result was close – needing two recounts to establish the winners.

“The event is just for fun and the donations taken and proceeds of the tea tent are used to cover costs. However, as this year’s event was very successful, any surplus will be used to support other village activities and local voluntary organisations.”
