Woman assaulted on footpath

Redditch Editorial 8th May, 2014 Updated: 18th Oct, 2016   0

A WOMAN was assaulted on a footpath in Winyates.

The 25-year-old was walking along a path between the Winyates Way bus route near Oxleasow Road, close to the Blue Earth Foods factory, between 10.30pm and 10.40pm on Tuesday (May 6).

She became concerned when she noticed a man in front of her kept looking back at her. The man turned on to a footpath which runs parallel with the bus route then appeared in front of her and grabbed her arm, but she managed to break free and ran from the scene.

The offender was white, aged between 25 and 30, around 5ft 6in with short dark hair and a spotty face. He was wearing a black cardigan, pale blue jeans and white trainers.

Det Sgt Justin Taylor said: “The woman was quite shaken. We are gathering CCTV footage in the area as part of our investigation but really need help from people to identify the man responsible.

“He may well live in that area so if anyone either saw him around there last night or thinks they recognise who he is from the description then please don’t think twice about coming forward and letting us know. It is important that he is caught as soon as possible.”

Anyone with any information should call police on 101, quoting incident reference number 793-S-060514, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
