A MAN was airlifted to a major trauma centre with lower leg and facial injuries after a piece of machinery fell on him outside Sainsbury’s.

The workman, believed to be in his 30s, was working in the car park of the Abbey Trading Centre site, which is currently closed for refurbishment when the incident happened shortly before 12.30pm today (Wednesday).

Two ambulances and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Strensham were sent to the scene where he was given pain relief and fully immobilised before being airlifted to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham for further assessment and treatment.
