  • Alcester company expands out of flooding

    Lianne Cooper

    20 November 2008

DESPITE a setback following last summer's floods, an Alcester design company has continued to expand throughout 2008.
AM Design Ltd, a private architectural practice which has been in business for eight years, had to have its whole office refurbished after the devastating floods, but has since had the best year since the business set up.
While many other companies in Swan Street were not back up and running for several months, AM were back to business after four weeks.
Danielle Le Resche, business and marketing administrator, said: "We worked from the managing director's whilst the office was being revamped – therefore meaning minimal disruption to our clients.
"At the time of the floods we had approximately 45 live projects, all at various stages, a lot of which were currently on site due to the summer months.
"This was a critical time for a lot of our projects but we managed to keep all the projects running and our clients satisfied."
The company is a walk in advice centre, offering free initial advice, which according to Miss Le Resche, makes them different to other architectural practices.
"Most are based in private offices and can be seen by appointment only," she said.
"We have a large shopfront on Swan Street and the public can call in to collect leaflets or for free advice.
"We also facilitate our clients, should they have any specific requirement, for example a plot of land, we will actively search on there behalf - which again we feel makes us unique to the majority of other architectural practices."
AM Design has also set up a new service, which enables clients to see, via a 3D model, what their finished project would look like.
