ASTWOOD BANK returned to winning ways in Birmingham League Division Three with a routine eight-wicket success over visitors Pelsall on Saturday.
The victory keeps Steve Adshead side in second place – a point behind Aston Manor – ahead of Saturday’s game against Worcester at Sambourne Lane.
Once again it was an impressive performance from the Bank bowling attack who all found conditions to their liking despite Pelsall choosing to bat.
Dan Thomas and Tom Harris each took two wickets apiece as they got rid of the top order cheaply and then the experienced Jon Summers again proved his worth by running through the lower middle order on his way to 4-35.
Overseas player Matt MacDonald and Andrzej Jagielski also bagged a wicket apiece as Pelsall made just 91 in 28 overs.
Bank threatened to make heavy weather of their run chase as they slipped to 14-2 in reply as Alex Robinson and Sam Thomas fell cheaply, but MacDonald (47no) and captain Steve Adshead (34no) batted fluently to ease their side to their target in just 15 overs and seal another 20 points.
