GREENLANDS teenager Daniel Fisher is gearing up for a big occasion when he and his Stourport Hockey Club team-mates play in the England Hockey U18s Club Plate national final at the Lee Valley Hockey Centre at the Olympic Park in London.
Former St Augustine’s High School pupil Daniel, who previously played for Redditch Hockey Club and now studies sports at Henley College, has played a key role in his team’s long and challenging route to the May 2 final.
Earlier in the year Stourport, who have played many games to reach this stage, won the Midlands Indoor U18s Hockey Finals and attended the U18s Nationals, in which they narrowly missed out on a semi-final place.
Reaching the prestigious final at the Olympic Park is a great reward for the Stourport youngsters, who will hope to have one big performance left in them as they bid to bring home the silverware with victory against Taunton Vale Hockey Club.
There were celebrations recently for Daniel when he and his Stourport 2nds team-mates clinched promotion from the West Midlands Premier Division after winning 17 of their 20 games this season to be crowned champions.
