Griffiths fires Feckenham to impressive win

JAMIE Griffiths smashed a stunning century to help Feckenham defeat Wormelow and step up their Worcestershire League Division Two promotion challenge.

Griffiths hit 101 off 108 balls as visitors Feckenham cruised to a 177-run win to remain in third place, four points behind second placed Chaddesley Corbett.

Griffiths shared a vital 86-run fourth-wicket stand with Josh Stacey (26) to rebuild the innings from 76-3 and Jamie Reddish (21), Mitchell Douglas (30) and Tom Coulson (27) carried on the good work.

Feckenham were finally dismissed for 269 in the 50th over but that total looked even more impressive when Wormelow were reduced to 35-4 after Coulson took three wickets and ran out Robbie Stonadge.

Only three batsmen reached double figures as the visitors were hustled out for 92 in just 23 overs.

Coulson took the bowling honours with 4-33 off his eight overs and Matt Henning claimed 3-15.

On Saturday Feckenham entertain Bromyard.

ALVECHURCH & Hopwood will entertain Coombs Wood on Saturday still looking for their first Division Two win of the season.

Their winless run extended to seven games with Saturday’s four-wicket defeat at home to promotion hopefuls Chaddesley Corbett.

Having won the toss and batted, bottom of the table Alvechurch were dismissed for 141 in 43 overs.

Opener Matt Hayward top scored with 37, with Jahan Khan (21), John Pinsent (19), Mike Reuben (18) and Andrew Evans (18) the only other contributors.

There were four wickets apiece for Muhammad Saddiq (4-34) and Chris Mole (4-37).

Alvechurch needed early wickets but Ibrahim Java (62) gave Chaddesley the foundation to build and, despite wickets tumbling as they closed in on their target, they secured victory after 35 overs.

Dan Wolstencroft (2-12) and Khan (2-12) were the pick of the Alvechurch bowlers.
