High fives for impressive Redditch

REDDITCH made the short trip to Bromsgrove for their latest Summer League game and stretched their unbeaten run to four games at the halfway stage of the campaign with a 5-1 victory.

Redditch began the game in the attacking mindset that had driven them through the preceding games and, with Bromsgrove unable to break down the resolute Redditch defence, the visitors were able to attack freely as Dan Waite caused problems and created ample chances which won several penalty corners, one of which was calmly slotted away by captain Andy Billingham to bring his tally for the campaign to three.

Shortly before half time Bromsgrove drew level but Redditch were dominant in the second half and Will Moss took advantage of a stretched home defence to finish off a great team move by slotting the ball inside the keeper’s right-hand post for his first goal of the Summer League season.

Redditch pressed home their advantage and went two goals ahead as Harry Capewell put the finishing touches to another team move which had been started by Ade Young and moved through the majority of the team.

The visitors then extended their lead when Pete Dawson scored with a trademark reverse stick strike after previously being denied by the crossbar.

As the match began to near its conclusion and after a poor penalty stroke by Young was saved by the Bromsgrove keeper, Capewell was able to score again for Redditch with a well placed flick from a penalty corner.

Redditch’s next match is a home fixture against Pershore.
