TALENTED Redditch golfer Nathan Grant is celebrating after being crowned the Lee Westwood Golf School International Strokeplay champion following three intense days of competition at the Iberostar Novo Sancti Petri resort in Cadiz, Spain.

The competition saw all 80 students from Lee Westwood Golf School Essex, Lee Westwood Golf School Cheshire and Darren Clarke Golf School in Ireland battle it out to take the International title.

Lee Westwood Golf School PGA associate coach and six-times Open player Sandy Wilson said: “Nathan deserved to win. He has worked hard during the winter months to help improve his game both physically and mentally.”

Holly Calvert, programme manager at The Lee Westwood Golf School in Cheshire, added: “Nathan has played consistently throughout the two weeks here in Spain. He has made his mark and turned his focus to more the enjoyment of the game instead of focusing too much on the technical side.”

The first two days saw Grant produce rounds of 72 and 73 before carding a tremendous 71 on the final day to finish one under par and level for the whole tournament to take the overall title.

Grant was also instrumental in the golf school’s ‘Ryder Cup’ victories in the first week when he took on two opponents simultaneously and beat them both.
