Jagielski's super six sets up crucial victory for Astwood Bank

ANDRZEJ JAGIELSKI produced a remarkable bowling performance to take six wickets for just eight runs as Astwood Bank secured a vital win in Birmingham League Division Three.

Jagielski finished with figures of 8.3-4-8-6 to demolish hosts Fordhouses for 84 and set up a seven-wicket win.

The result leaves Steve Adshead’s side third from bottom in the table, two points behind Worfield and 15 from Pelsall.

After Bank won the toss and decided to field, Fordhouses looked well placed at 55-1 despite losing Niall Cooper to Matt MacDonald.

However, Jagielski then took over. Having snared Josh Giddins LBW, he took five out of seven wickets which fell for just 13 runs.

MacDonald took two more wickets to end with 3-19 off ten overs, Adam Watson took 1-29 and Jagielski ended the innings in the 37th over when Adshead snapped up a catch off Aatif Ali.

Bank’s reply, however, began less than positively when they were reduced to 13-3 after Alex Robinson (0), MacDonald (0) and Ryan Blakemore (11) all fell cheaply to Chris Guest.

However, Tom Pedley (39no) and skipper Adshead (27no) steadied any wobbles and steered Bank home to victory and 20 points in just the 24th over.

On Saturday Astwood Bank entertain Stratford at Sambourne Lane.
