TEENAGE boxing ace Olivia Freeman has plenty to smile about after being crowned Midlands regional champion.

The 15-year-old, who won a gold medal at September’s prestigious Haslev Boxcup in Denmark, was recently crowned Birmingham & District junior champion and has now achieved further success having become Midlands regional champion following the conclusion of the regional stages of the England Championships.

Olivia, who boxes for Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter Boxing Club, will now appear in the England Boxing National semi-final in Portsmouth on April 2.

Jewellery Quarter BC coach Mick Maguire said: “Olivia’s rise through the ranks has been an incredible journey and is testament to her dedication and hard working ethic.

“We are delighted Olivia is now through to her first semi final of the national competition and I am confident she will represent herself and her club magnificently, just as she always has done.

“Olivia has recently attended assessments at The English Institute of Sport with the England national team and we have every confidence in her achieving her goal of representing her country very, very soon.”
