New Redditch Entaco captain Chinn hoping for a winning start

REDDITCH Entaco will bid to get their Worcestershire League Division Two campaign off to a flying start on Saturday when they host Evesham.

Led by new captain Greg Chinn, the Kingfishers are aiming to bounce back to Division One at the first attempt following last season’s relegation.

Redditch 2nds, skippered by Geoff Eley, are also in action as they travel to Evesham in Division One 2nd XI.

South African overseas player Cody Poole is set to make his debut for the Redditch first team and Chinn has named a strong side for the opening fixture (1pm), having been boosted by the return to fitness of Russell Southwick.

Once again, paceman Waqas Ali will spearhead the bowling attack.

No play was possible last weekend as pre-season friendlies against Droitwich and Astwood Bank were washed out.

Weather permitting, on Friday the club are holding junior training from 5.45pm to 7.30pm under the guidance of head coach Richard Hadley and any prospective new players are welcome to come along and register.

Elsewhere in Division Two, Alvechurch & Hopwood host Wormelow and Feckenham visit Bredon.

Promoted Studley start their Warwickshire League Premier Division campaign at home to Rugby.
