Popular Herefordshire and Worcestershire Sports Awards are back for 15th year

THE SPORTS Partnership Herefordshire and Worcestershire this week launched their 15th Herefordshire and Worcestershire Sports Awards, which will take place at Worcester Warriors’ Sixways Stadium on Wednesday, November 9.

The Herefordshire & Worcestershire Sports Awards aim to reward and recognise those people from across the two counties who take part, work, coach and volunteer in sport and physical activity.

For the third year in succession Bullivant Media – publisher of the Redditch Standard – will be sponsoring the headline Sports Personality of the Year honour which was won by Worcester Warriors’ Chris Pennell in 2014 and Worcester City’s Sean Geddes in 2015.

These awards are an opportunity for local people, clubs and organisations to be celebrated for their hard work, commitment and passion for grassroots sport as well as those who are participating at both amateur and professional levels.

Falling in a year which celebrates Olympic and Paralympic Games, Euro 2016 and the Ryder Cup amongst many sporting highlights, there is no better time to nominate an individual, club or organisation whose achievements deserve to be recognised.

New for this year is the Sports School of the Year award designed to recognise that school which is committed to improving and providing opportunities for all its pupils to take part in sport and physical activity.

If you know people, teams, clubs, organisations or schools which deserve to be recognised for their achievements or contributions to local sport, the Sports Partnership is urging you to take the time to nominate them.

Stephen Brewster, Director of The Sports Partnership, said: “This event is our chance to honour our local sports men and women, coaches, volunteers, clubs and officials.

“Over the years, we’ve received such huge support for the awards and feel it’s important the local community get their say on who’s made an impact on sport, young people and local communities.

“Recognising sporting achievements and celebrating good practice within the sporting community is at the very heart of what we do and we will be championing the hard work and talent that exists within Herefordshire and Worcestershire.”

A full list of this year’s categories and registration for nominations can be found at www.sportspartnershiphw.co.uk/sportsawards. Nominations will close on 11.59pm on Sunday, September 25.
