Ravens preparing for a bigger and better season

Redditch Editorial 16th Feb, 2016 Updated: 18th Oct, 2016   0

NORTH East Worcestershire Ravens are holding their annual launch night this evening (Friday) as they prepare for what they hope will be an exciting campaign.

The launch night takes place from 7.30pm at Kings Norton RFC’s Hopwood Park home, which will welcome some of Ravens’ sponsors.

The club is expanding and has players across a huge age range.

The open age team (16+) are looking forward to being coached by ex-England Lionheart player Rich Whitehouse under Director of Rugby Jason Spafford, with new players being attracted from across the West Midlands.

There will be opportunities, like players before them, to be watched by professional clubs and potentially be offered the chance to play for clubs such as Bradford Bulls and Sheffield Eagles.

Ravens will be competing in the Midlands Premier South League and will tour further afield, whilst the newly-named Masters team – the Halcyons (35+ variable contact rugby league) – will be playing in festivals around the country including hosting one themselves.

With the huge expansion of age ranges in mind, Ravens are starting their New Little Leaguers (ages three to seven) and their juniors (eight to 15) will be part of the Midlands Rugby League Development Programme.

The Kings Norton and Ravens O2 Touch Partnership (14+ male and female touch rugby for everybody) will continue at Bournville College indoors until Wednesday, April 20, when it will move outdoors to Hopwood Park for the summer.

For more details on these exciting initiatives come along this evening or visit the club’s website.
