REDDITCH Entaco head into the weekend’s fixtures hoping to improve their fortunes of remaining in League Division 1 of the Worcester League.
League leaders and title favourites Worcester Norton Taverners are the visitors to Bromsgrove Rd tomorrow. Monday the Kingfishers travel to Belbroughton.
Last Saturday Pershore took the points with a resounding victory by 93 runs Pershore put into bat amassed an impressive 257/6 off their 50 overs South African Ulrich Boshoff leading the way with an unbeaten 114.
In their reply Redditch started off in the worst possible fashion losing Francois Mostert off the first ball and quite simply never recovered, despite double figure scores from Southwick, Roberson, Chinn and a fine 64 from Rizwan Choudry Redditch collapsed to just 164 all out.
Better news from the 2nds and 3rds as victories recorded against Rushwick and Pershore lifted the atmosphere at the club.
The second’s, largely thanks to an excellent 98 from skipper Geoff Eley, amassed 242 all out from their 50 overs.
Rushwick struggled in their innings and thanks to some excellent pace bowling from teenager Ghulam Moyhuddin [4/24] and Sam Egan 3/31] Redditch ran out easy winners by 129 runs. Tomorrow Geoff Eley takes his side away to Stourport.
A welcome victory for the ever improving thirds away at Pershore saw Redditch Entaco win by 20 runs.
Batting first, the Kingfishers totalled 175/9 with veteran Will Feast leading the way with 41 ably supported by Naseek Hussain 35 and Will Hadley 24.
An excellent start from the Redditch bowlers put pressure on the home side with teenager Marlon Lokenath leading the way with 4/18 put Redditch in control.
Lokenath’s colleagues responded as Pershore collapsed to just 155 all out.
Valuable contributions from Matt Mansfield 2/23 and Ben Bryant 2/31.
Tomorrow Redditch Entaco travel to Malvern.
