REDDITCH Golf Club began the 2016 season in fine style as they won the Droitwich Shield by beating Kidderminster A 2-1 in the final of the Winter Inter-Club Scratch Foursomes at Moseley Golf Club.
Last October 35 teams set out on the journey to the final, demonstrating a growing interest in this competition over recent years.
Redditch A team captain Earl Withers said: “The format – foursomes matchplay off scratch – is one of the hardest in the game and still forms the bedrock of county matches.
“Good partnerships, knowing what to say and when, while working together as a team, are all part of this very challenging form of golf.
“The final was no exception, with some fine shots and crucial putts being holed in a very sporting, competitive atmosphere.”
