LUKE SHEARER’S first half goal guided Redditch United to a vital 1-0 victory at Leamington on Tuesday to lift Liam McDonald’s side into third place in the Southern League Premier Division.
The win at the second placed Brakes – coupled with a 3-1 defeat for leaders Poole Town at Chesham United – means McDonald’s men are now behind Leamington on goal difference only and just a point adrift of Poole having played a game more.
The Reds, who won 2-0 at home to Dorchester Town on Saturday thanks to second half strike from Shearer and George Carline, have now won four successive league matches.
Read this week’s Redditch Standard for a full round-up of both matches and a look ahead to Saturday’s FA Trophy first qualifying round tie at county rivals Evesham United.
