REDDITCH Entaco’s 1st and 2nd teams enjoyed welcome victories as they bounced back to winning ways at the first time of asking.

Greg Chinn’s Worcestershire League Division Two table-toppers cemented their 37-point lead with a four-wicket victory over visitors Lye, who collapsed from 180-0 to 211 all out.

Raja Nawaz hit a magnificent 127 for the visitors, whilst Tom Phelan produced season’s best figures of 5-33.

Phelan received good support from 16-year-old Tanay Kulkarni on his league debut at first team level as he took 2-38 off ten overs and Dan Protherough also chipped in with two wickets.

In reply Redditch lost Jack Roberson without scoring but a second wicket partnership of 128 between skipper Chinn (73) and Russell Southwick (55) put the Kingfishers in control and they got home with 6.3 overs to spare as Yassar Altaf (25) and Tom Field (29) contributed in the middle order.

On Saturday the leaders travel to Enville.

The 2nds enjoyed a massive 199-run victory at Hagley in Division One 2nd XI after a magnificent opening stand of 277 between Naseek Hussain (153) and Nick Fowkes (124) put Redditch in charge.

Matt Greenway chipped in with 33 as Redditch finished on 372-7 off their 50 overs.

Shell-shocked Hagley then crumbled to 173 all out as Warren Bisp and Andy Elleray took three wickets apiece.

On Saturday fourth placed Colwall are the visitors to Bromsgrove Road, with third placed Redditch a point ahead going into the game.

The 3rds and 4ths had enjoyable games against West Malvern, although the 3rds went down by five wickets at home in Division Five.

They were bowled out for just 153 with skipper Will Feast (28) and Nev Mason (27) leading the way.

In reply West Malvern took just 36.3 overs to prevail despite losing early wickets. Raga Raj and Matt Mansfield took two wickets apiece.

The 4ths returned from West Malvern with a well deserved Division Five 2nd XI five-wicket win.

Chasing 234 to win, a magnificent 135 not out from Faizan Ahmed and 34 from Arnav Kulkarni saw them home.

On Saturday Stourbridge provide the opposition, with the 3rds away and the 4ths at home.

This Sunday Redditch Entaco over 45s travel to play Earlswood in the Over 45s Cup.

Once again under the captaincy of skipper Nev Mason, the defending champions have picked a strong squad of experienced cricketers. The match starts at 2pm and is 35 overs per side.
