ANGLING

DARK Lane AC’s Top Ten match on the River Arrow at Alcester on Saturday was won by Barry Blewett with 20lb 1oz.

Close behind in second place was Dave Gibbs with 19lb 15oz and third was Pete Lewis with 6lb 12oz.

GOLF

REDDITCH Golf Club seniors (RAGS) were unable to achieve the double over Kidderminster when they travelled to their friendly county rivals on Monday.

In mixed weather conditions, RAGS succumbed to a fine performance from the home team, particularly captain Phil Green who registered three gross birdies.

Some stalwart action from RAGS players, particularly the phenomenal Brian Stone, salvaged four halves in a 6-2 defeat.

Despite the defeat, RAGS had an enjoyable afternoon playing on an excellent course followed by a welcome meal.

THE PREVIOUS week RAGS entertained Churchill & Blakedown in their return match at Callow Hill last Thursday and sent the visitors crashing to a 7-0 defeat.

In beautiful weather and on a course in immaculate condition against very friendly opponents, RAGS produced a good all-round performance.

RAGS’ outstanding player was Gareth Jones whose performance was described by his partner as ‘immense’ and this form will hopefully be carried into the next couple of matches.
