THROCKMORTON AC’s Thursday evening match on the River Arrow at Alcester was won by Tony Avery with 13lb 9oz.
Second was Mick Keen with 9lb 10oz, third was Glyn Blewett with 9lb 4oz and section winners were Phil O’Donnell (8lb 4oz) and Rich Hall (5lb 10oz).
NEEDLES AC’s match on Sunday on the River Alne at Great Alne was won by John Mitchell with 6lb 6oz.
Second was Barry Maskell with 4lb, third was Barry Blewett with 3lb 14oz and section winners were Pete Elms (3lb 8oz), Bob Brazil (3lb) and Glyn Blewett (2lb 4oz).
RUGBY LEAGUE
NORTH East Worcestershire Ravens were left disappointed after having no Midlands Rugby League South fixture on Saturday following the withdrawal from the league of scheduled hosts South Birmingham Hawks.
Ravens, who had a strong side ready to play, were handed a 24-0 victory and sit in fifth place ahead of Saturday’s visit of Telford Raiders who are one place and four points better off.
