AFTER an eye-catching performance in last season’s British Superteen Championship, Redditch racer Trystan Finocchiaro moved up into the big league with his first ride for the famous IN Competition Aprilia team, managed by legendary racer Ian Newton.
Mentored this season by champion rider James Folkard and riding his new Aprilia RRV 450GP at the famous Brands Hatch circuit, Trystan managed to hang on to the leading bunch of senior riders in all four of the weekend’s British championship races.
After a breathtaking battle with fellow riders culminated in a stupendous overtaking manoeuvre at Druids, Trystan finished the first race on Sunday in eighth position.
There was more of the same in the second race in which Trystan managed to climb up to ninth place on a grid of 26 of the nation’s best young talents.
It is on to Donington Park for round two of the Aprilia Challenge British Championship on April 11 when Trystan will aim to put himself on the podium and Redditch on the map of UK motorcycle racing once again.
