WHITE HART A achieved promotion to Division One of the Heart of England Thursday League with a fine 158-139 home win over Moseley CC A.

The Redditch club ended their Division Two season in second position, six points behind winners Alcester A, and captain Sue Sugden wishes to thank the players and supporters for the team’s success.

The B team finished bottom of a very competitive Division Three after a 161-106 defeat at fellow strugglers Henley A, where they had just two winners in the shape of Tony Sugden 21-20 and Tim Hollingshead 21-15.

In the Heart of England over 60s Friday League Division One, White Hart A suffered two away defeats in four days and will complete the season in a respectable mid-table position.

They were first beaten 123-87 at Wythall A where only Tom Hawkes (21-20) and Norman Batchelor (21-20) won their ties and then lost a rearranged match 124-93 at Ye Olde Knowle A where Ian Humphreys and captain Mike Estell both won by a single shot.

The B team took another step towards promotion from Division Three with a very easy 125-81 home win over bottom team Tanworth.

They had five winning cards from Sue Sugden 21-10, Sheila Humphreys 21-3, Anne Batchelor 21-12, Tony Sugden 21-19 and captain Brian Chatterley 21-16, while Graham Arnott only lost out by one shot.

Hart are now 17 points clear of third placed Wootton Hall with three games to play.

In Northfield & District Sunday League Division Two, White Hart A have now given themselves a chance of promotion to the top flight after an impressive 168-95 home win over King George V B.

They had a full set of winning cards from Matt Higgins and Tony Sugden (both 21-5), Tim Hollingshead 21-9, Mike Estell 21-10, Ian Humphreys 21-15, Paul Matthews and Ray Richards (both 21-20) and captain Mick Perrins 21-11.

Hart currently occupy third place in Division Two, four points behind The Maggies with just two matches left to play.

The B team are still in the Division Four promotion hunt despite a 153-106 defeat at British Oak B where they had just two winners – Kirk Wright 21-10 and captain Di Pritchard (21-17) – who was playing her first team match of the season.

The Redditch club are currently only in sixth place but have games in hand on teams above them and play all of the clubs below them in their final five matches.

In their final match of the Yardley Wood Superleague Division Three season, White Hart met with defeat at West Midlands Travel and both teams will compete in Division Four next season.

Kirk Wright (21-11), Angela Irwin (21-17) and Denis Turner (21-18) were Hart’s three winners.

Bournville Sports took the title by 74 points from Kings Norton Ex-Service.
