WHITE Hart crown green bowls teams gained victories in the Northfield & District Sunday League, the Heart of England Thursday evening league and the Heart of England Over 60s league during the past week.

The Sunday A team opened their 2015 Division Three campaign with what could prove to be a most valuable away win at Black Horse, Northfield.

Wins for captain Stan Pritchard (21-12), Tony Sugden (21-8), Paul Matthews (21-19), Ray Richards (21-15), Sue Sugden (21-13) and Ian Humphreys (21-8) easily gave White Hart the lion’s share of the points on offer.

The Friday AM Over 60s team turned around the previous week’s defeat at the RABL with a fine victory by 13 shots, having four winners from the six-man team.

Captain Ian Humphreys again led the way (21-10) and was well supported by Ray Richards (21-11), Stephen Turner (21-16) and Graham Arnott (21-20).

The Thursday HOE Division Three B team, captained by Norman Batchelor, gained 14 points in a home win over Moseley CC B, the highlights of which were fine performances from Gill Croft (21-3) and Tim Hollingshead (21-5).

The Saturday Warwick/Worcester League Division Four team managed to halve the previous week’s deficit in a defeat by Boldmere Sports & Social, who showed why they are hot favourites to win this division in a 240-195 win.

White Hart winners on a pacy green were Tony Sugden, Stuart Rice and the season’s unbeaten pair Ian Humphreys and Paul Matthews, while Sheila Humphreys was unlucky to be narrowly beaten 21-19.

The Thursday HOE A team play in Division One and had two winners – Ian and Paul – in an away defeat at Tanworth A.

There will be an open day at the White Hart club in Headless Cross on Monday, May 4 from 11am to 3pm. This is an ideal opportunity for the Redditch public to see what the only crown green bowls club in the town has to offer. Everyone is welcome.
