WHITE Hart achieved promotion from Division Five of the Northfield & District Sunday League after a fine home win against a strong Colebrook B team.

The seven points they gained from the match put them three ahead of nearest rivals Warstock, giving them second place in the final table.

Their winners were Gill Croft, Tim Hollingshead, Neil Laxton, Stuart Rice and Tony Sugden, while Kirk Wright was pipped 21-20 by a final winning bowl for the second week in a row.

The A team are odds-on to also gain promotion from Division Three but have to play their final two rearranged matches this Sunday before it can be confirmed.

The Friday over 60s Heart of England B team impressively beat Mount Pleasant/Portland at home to virtually guarantee their place in Division Three next season.

Winners were Sheila Humpheys (21-2), Norman Batchelor (21-10), Mike Estell (21-17) and Tony Sugden (21-20), while Mick Perrins lost by just two points.

The A team struggled on a difficult green at Ye Olde Knowle in Division One. Ray Richards was their only winner (21-16), while Tom Hawks and Graham Arnott (both 21-14) were the best of the rest.

In the SW Birmingham League White Hart finished the season with a home defeat by Stoke Prior, but Kate Broome has captained the team to a very respectable mid-table position which seemed unlikely in the opening weeks of the campaign.

The match ended 120-93 as Hart had two winners in the shape of John Meredith (21-17) and Mick Perrins (21-19).

White Hart’s Saturday Warwick & Worcester League team were relegated from Premier Division Four after defeat at Pheasant.

They had just three winners from the 12 ties in the shape of Paul Matthews (21-12), Mick Perrins (21-15) and Sheila Humphreys (21-14) as they were beaten 230-158.
