Work to begin on road improvements in Redditch

WORK will start on road improvements to Weights Lane in Redditch on April 25 to improve connectivity and alleviating traffic in the area.

The enhancements, approved by Worcestershire County Council and predicted to take around 20 weeks, are part of Persimmon Homes’ next phase of properties in the area.

Major work on the local road network will include over £1million of local highways improvements.

Installation of footpaths and signal controls will also ensure the new road is safer for both pedestrians and car users.

Russell Griffin, Persimmon Homes South Midlands’ managing director, said ‘it marked a key milestone’.

“Of course, we understand there is likely to be disruption to people’s journeys in the meantime and would like to thank residents and road users for their patience while we complete these works.”

The next development phase – known as The View – will bring a further 200 new homes to Redditch with a range of tenures to meet local people’s needs.

Over £1.8million has been pledged to Redditch Borough Council to improve local amenities, including £800,000 towards NHS services, £750,000 to Sport England and £300,000 towards transport.

All businesses on Weights Lane will remain open for the duration of the works. A designated website –  resident-portal.co.uk/redditch/  – has been created for updates and to answer residents’ questions.
