Redditch History society to holds screening of historical films

REDDITCH History Society continues its new season of illustrated talks on topics of the past with a selection of short films relating to the history of Redditch, introduced and curated by secretary Anthony Green.

The society is thriving again and the group have a diverse selection of talks on historical topics lined up for 2023 with more already planned for 2024.

The next meeting tomorrow will also include notes from the annual general meeting (AGM) before the viewing of the films.

The Redditch History Society meets at the Oasis Christian Centre at 2pm, usually on the second Monday of the month, and the meeting lasts for a couple of hours including tea or coffee and biscuits which are available for a nominal fee.

It is the only history society in the area that meets in the daytime and as such is a valuable community asset worth cherishing and supporting.

Non-members are welcome to attend and the entrance fee is currently £3, refundable against the membership fee if joining at the meeting.

Forthcoming talks, given by both guest speakers and society members, include the history of Winterbourne House in Edgbaston, recent excavations in Beoley, aspects of life in 19th century Stratford-Upon-Avon, a wartime childhood and much more.
