REDDITCH Borough Council is planning to expand its garden waste collection service.
As part of the Environment Bill, the government has pledged make recycling easier and ensure there is a consistent service across the country.
New requirements on the collection of waste will be introduced to help meet a commitment to eliminate avoidable waste by 2050.
Redditch MP Rachel Maclean is working with Coun Matt Dormer, Leader of Redditch Borough Council, to lobby the Environment Minister as part of their work to expand garden waste collection services in the Borough.
Mrs Maclean said: “This is an issue which has been coming up on the doorstep when I’ve been out talking to residents.
“We’re working hard to ensure residents have access to garden waste services – a shared desire of the Government and the Borough council.”
Coun Dormer added: “I know this is a service residents want from their local council and we will make sure it’s available to them as soon as possible.
“I’m grateful for Rachel’s help and support in lobbying the Environment Minister.”
