A REDDITCH school has been successful in securing £27,180 of funding from the Department of Education to support the school in enhancing their sports equipment.
Tudor Grange Academy on Woodrow Drive is eager to unlock the potential sporting talents in their students.
The grant will provide greater access and opportunities for students to access extra-curricular sport and physical activity.
In particular, this will increase participation in tennis and basketball.
Marie McNamara, Principal, Tudor Grange Academy Redditch said: “We are very grateful for the support we received from Active Herefordshire and Worcestershire Partnership.
“We hope this increased community use will underpin our efforts to reopen the dual use sport centre that our community desperately need.
“This is our ultimate aim and goal for the school and community”.
The school welcomed a number of visitors to celebrate this success including MP Rachael Maclean, Coun att Dormer Leader of Redditch Borough Council and Tudor Grange’s new community tennis coach Matt Tew along with the Head of PE, Rebecca Nicolson.
Matt Tew said: “TGA Redditch are partnering with inspire2coach to promote health and well-being through the game of tennis.
“TGAT share our vision of enriching lives through sport and we look forward to sharing everything tennis has to offer with the local community.
“Tennis is a sport for everyone, whatever your age, ability or goals; socialising, competing, getting fit, learning new skills, we cater for all!”
