REDDITCH Foobank held a collection day at Tesco Extra.
During the day, shoppers were invited to donate from a list of key items and a team of volunteers were on hand to assist and give out information.
By the end of the day, more than 770 kg of food had been collected, which represents some 864 meals that can now be provided to local people in crisis.
Redditch Foodbank is run by the charity Acts of Kindness (AoK) and is based at Number 24 on Church Green East.
From April 2022 to March 2023, the foodbank provided 1,841 parcels to people in Redditch, which represents over 16,500 meals.
Rev Robin Baker who chairs AoK said: “We’d like to say a massive thank you to everybody who donated at our Tesco collection.
“Your generosity means we can continue to be generous to those needing our support in these challenging times.
“We’d also like to thank all our wonderful volunteers who helped on the day and to the staff at Tesco Redditch for their continued support.
“We are so grateful for our regular donors and financial supporters who make it possible to serve our community in need.
“Redditch has many generous people who want to do something to make a difference.”
