THE FIRST meeting of REDDITCH Armed Forces and Veterans Breakfast Club (AFVBC) has been hailed a success after nearly 50 veterans and allies attended.
The club formed by ex-British Armed Forces members, James Shobolt and Nick Walker, will meet at Redditch Cricket, Hockey and Rugby Club on the first Saturday of every month at 10am.
The first meeting, held on Saturday July, 1 was described by the founders as an ‘amazing’ and ‘very emotional’ day.
Nick Walker said: “What a fantastic first Breakfast that was.
“We put so much work into getting the club going and it has all paid off.
“It was amazing to see everyone come together for a brilliant couple of hours.
“The banter was bang on and everyone left buzzing. What a great start to what’s going to be a fantastic club.”

The founder also thanked the staff and chef from the Redditch Cricket, Hockey, and Rugby Club.
Prominent locals showing their support on the day included Redditch Mayor, Coun Salman Akbar and Pete Martin, founder of the Redditch Self Defence charity.
Pete Martin’s charity has sponsored the club and helped fund banners to promote the breakfast mornings.
The morning was rounded off with a small presentation from a group of Falkland veterans and a raffle with prizes donated from local supporters including Morrisons, Insta Barbers and the Redditch Self Defense charity.
The club will meet again on Saturday August, 5.
