REDDITCH MP Rachel Maclean has visited the new operating theatre complex under construction at the Alexandra Hospital.
The purpose-built extension, which will house two brand-new operating theatres, will receive its first patients from September this year.
The £18.8million theatres will treat up to 193 patients every month, helping to tackle backlogs and ensure patients receive faster treatment.
This is one of a number of recent investments in the Alex which also include a £3.9million expansion of endoscopy services, anew Breast Imaging Unit and the return of the Garden Suite.
Mrs Maclean said: “I’ve long said the Alex has a bright future ahead of it and this multi-million-pound investment in our hospital is clear proof of that.
“This brand-new theatre complex will help to tackle the Covid backlogs, ensuring constituents receive treatment more quickly.
“Whilst this latest investment is incredibly welcome, I will continue to be ambitious for our hospital.”
