Fundraiser launched for Redditch family after home burns down

TWO fund-raisers have been launched to support a Redditch family that ‘lost everything’ in a house fire.

The blaze broke out at a home in Church Hill on Saturday afternoon (October 7).

A family of five were living at the Deans Close home but were out at the time of the fire.

Ashley Neade, who’s parents live in the house, said they were distraught to come home and find their home had been gutted and that their husky and two bull dogs had died in the blaze.

Family friend Jodie Chambers has set up a fundraising page to help essentials and furniture for the family, who are currently living with a relative.

Ashley has also started a fundraiser.

He said: “My parents are disabled, and the equipment my dad needs has been burnt.

“Our hearts are broken, we’ve of lost everything but so relieved that my family still have their lives.”

Ashley is appealing for donations for clothes, school uniform, and house essentials.

Between the two fund-raisers, they have raised £705, but still need more for everyday essential.

A fire brigade spokesperson said: “Two Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crews – one each from Redditch and Bromsgrove Fire Stations – plus a Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service crew from Alcester were called at 16:31 on 7 October to a house fire in Deans Close, Redditch.

“The fire in a two-storey building was fully developed and fought using two hosereel jets by eight firefighters wearing breathing apparatus.

“A thorough search of the property was carried out and all persons were accounted for, although the bodies of three dogs were recovered”.

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: “The fire is not being treated as suspicious and police are not investigating”.
