A REDDITCH foodbank has been broken into for the fourth time this year.
The Friends of Isaacs Foodbank with sheds in Greenlands, Batchley, Abbeydale and Moons Moat, operated on a basis of trust – the policy was people to visit one site and only take what they need.
However, after a series of incidents of people clearing out all food stocks, the sheds are now appointment only.
The Moons Moat foodbank site was broken into in the early hours of Sunday morning (October 8).
Claire Chapman, who runs the foodbank alongside her son Isaac Winfield, said she disappointed this has happened again.
“After further abuse of our kindness we have decided neither Isaac, the family, or the team can take the upset any further.
“Regardless of what was taken this has caused damage to the shed and has left us needing to replace the padlock.”
CCTV of the person believed to be responsible has been uploaded on the Friends of Isaac Facebook page.
Claire added: “Isaac is understandably devastated, this was not how we wanted what should have been a happy week to start.”
Isaac, who recently turned 12, set up the foodbank during the pandemic,.
It has grown from a small shed on his driveway from four large sheds around the town.
Claire said another Isaac loves running the foodbank, after the recent thefts, she’s worried about the impact on him.
“If could turn back the clock, I’d think twice.
“After the most recent incident I’ve seriously considered if we would be better stopping it all.
“It’s a lot for a kid of his age and certainly has its emotional moments.
“Watching him engage, particularly considering his disabilities, I see how much he loves giving and the difference he’s making that’s incomprehensible to him.
“He has made so many friends and gained In confidence.
“So many experiences that most kids wouldn’t dream of.
“Yes it’s unique, but he leads every step of the way and has a massive team behind him supporting every step.”
