Hard working Citizens Advice staff praised as calls made for more volunteers from Redditch

STAFF at Citizens Advice have celebrated both the work of the charity and the long service of their colleagues as they call on new volunteers to join the team.

A total of 17 staff and volunteers from the Bromsgrove and Redditch branch were commended for five years’ service, 10 were praised for 10 years’ service, and five were congratulated on more than 15 years with the charity.

The latter group included volunteer treasurer, Gordon Cooper, who has served on their trustee board, in various roles, for a staggering 28 years.

Against a background of significantly increased demand, the service has helped 8,283 households – a rise of more than 20 per cent on last year.

A lot of these queries concerned money matters and staff and volunteers have helped manage almost £2,200,000 of debt.

This was an increase of 107 per cent in a year and their work helped secure over half-a-million pounds in financial gains for clients.

Volunteers have dedicated more than 12,500 hours in the last year and Citizens Advice in Bromsgrove and Redditch is calling on others to help out.
