12-year-old boy admits damaging defibrillator box in Redditch

A BOY aged 12, has admitted to causing damage to a defibrillator in Redditch.

The incident happened on October 29, when a defibrillator box in the Matchborough Centre was damaged.

Two teenage boys aged 13 and 14, and a boy aged 12 were interviewed after West Mercia Police issued a plea for help in identifying those responsible on November 20.

The public have been thanked by police for their help with the appeal.

PC Jamie Clarke, who has been investigating the incident, said: “We would like to say a big thank you to members of the public who stepped forward and gave us information.

“This incident was understandably of real concern to the local community as it was put in place to help save people’s lives.




“We are pleased to say that because of the appeal in which CCTV footage was shared, three boys were interviewed.

“Following an admission in interview, a community resolution will be issued to the person responsible, a boy aged 12.”


The boy cannot be named for legal reasons.
